Gus studied studio and jazz studies as a member of the bass studio with a focus on performance at the University of Tennessee School of Music in Knoxville, TN under the tutaliage of Jon Hamar and the program leadership of Keith Brown.
While enrolled, Gus was the principal bassists for the University of Tennessee Big Band Orechestra for two and a half years and a multitude of ensemble groups during his four years of study.
While studying bass guitar since age twelve and upright bass since age fourteen; Gus plays finger style primarily but also has experience with the bass playing arco in windensemble.
Live performance is where Gus shines, bringing the swing and latin grooves to life for the band. Gus is a trusted muscian for combos looking for a complimentary musician for their private engagements, receptions, dinner parties and jazz bar gigs.
